SEV Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İlter Turan made a speech during the opening ceremony and emphasized that although SEV’s year of establishment is 1968, it’s been carrying on an education tradition which is 200 years old:
“While coming from the education tradition of past 2 centuries, we’re also able to reshape ourselves according to today’s conditions. With these skills, we established our new school which is able to cover an increasing and changing demand for education. We would like to raise individuals of the world who are social, well-equipped, self-confident, responsible and sensible. We, foundation members, work for the foundation completely voluntarily by sparing our own time. I see happily that 200 years of tradition brought this school to our education life with volunteer works.”
“A DREAM CAME TRUE”
Chairperson of SEV Board, Ceyda Aydede (ACI’73) mentioned that they feel such a huge excitement and pride as the SEV community: “We experienced this feeling while running around to open SEV primary schools in 1997. Our current situation shows that we’re on such a right track. We see that the schools we opened have made contribution to our country’s educational need. As for today, I feel joyful that a dream came true: opening an American college for the first time after 150 years. I thank everyone who contributed realizing SEV American College project.”
