Academic Honesty Week started with a very enjoyable film showing students and teachers at SAC being explicitly introduced to the need for academic honesty.

Also, part of the film, Hababam Sinifi, was shown to the students.  It also highlighted academic dishonesty.

Guest speaker Dr. Ziya Toprak pointed out the ethics of academic honesty.  Dr. Toprak also discussed the cultural aspects; that is, you have to learn about the expectations. He gave a 35% rate of failures at universities due to academic dishonesty.

In classes, the students discussed examples of academic dishonesty and copyright and found out about plagiarism by using “turnitin.”

Academic honesty week was brought to an end with another film by students and teachers of SAC.  The theme of academic honesty week will never be forgotten:

“ALWAYS give credit where credit is due”
