SAC students established a bridge of brotherhood and solidarity with Thailand. SAC students participated in a social service project in the Udon Thai district of Thailand under the guidance of their teachers Teri Benkarmona and Servet Yaprak between 31 March and 7 April, 2017.

SAC students worked on rebuilding a family’s home that had been destroyed for various reasons. The students helped to make the walls of the room with the cement, sand and stones given to them. At the end of the day, they lost all their tiredness with the smile of a 5-year old trying to play with his grandfather, with the sparkle in the eyes of his grandmother and a half-broken toy shovel in his hand.

With tears in their eyes, our students were sent out into the area, proving that there are boundaries for friendship and solidarity. In addition to experiencing a spirit of solidarity through their social responsibility project in Thailand, they have also had the opportunity to learn, understand and taste the characteristics of Thai cuisine, and to experience a different set of cultural values and beliefs.
