SAC students went to Dominican Republic with their teachers Teri Benkarmona and Servet Yaprak. During the week that they stayed there, they carried out their social service project of constructing sitting benches in the primary school in Bateye region where Haitian immigrant live.   SAC students first dug the soil, then they mixed cement, sand, pieces of stones and placed the mix into the molds. They carried the blocks to construct the feet of the sitting benches. Beside all this work, SAC students played games with the Haitian students in the school and supported them in their English classes. At the end of the social service project, the school community prepared an activity for SAC students and teachers to show their appreciation for us about the project.

SAC students also had the opportunity to visit the sugar cane fields which is the most important economical resource for the local community. They learned how to harvest sugar cane and tasted it.
